Evaluation
The purpose of my project was to
create a Campaign which will raise awareness to the little things people do on
an everyday basis and to prevent people from doing these ‘little crimes’. For some,
they might not be seen as crimes however these things need to be prevented. I believe
my installation will help to do so, due to the fact that it raises awareness of
these things in an interactive way. I have created a digital gallery which
includes 6 photographs of 6 different things which help to raise awareness of
for example: drinking in a public place, throwing cigarettes on the ground,
breaking into someone’s car, stealing a mobile phone and driving while talking
on the phone. Each photography has augmented reality built within it. If you go
over the installation with an electronic device such as a mobile phone or a
tablet, the photography changes into a video which is like a continuance from
the photo itself. My campaign is called ‘Notice’ and the logo includes an eye
above the word Notice. The logo in my opinion is successful due to the fact
that it suits the theme, is simple and very easy to remember. This makes it
easier for users to spread word about it as it is also easy to remember. The
installation works successfully with the photos changing into videos which creates
an atmosphere of a modern gallery. This is because instead of people standing
watching each photo, they are interacting which each one through electronic
devices in order to find out more about what is going to happen. I have had a
few issues where 1 photo wasn’t working due to the lighting, which made it
difficult for me to work with as it wouldn’t work when it was too dark in the room.
I have also had a few technical issues which took me a long time to fix. Overall,
I am pleased with the outcome of my installation as I believe I have met my
objectives and have achieved what I was planning to achieve when planning what
to do for my project. The photography has come out to be clear considering the
A1 scales. All photographs have a specific theme and all match together. The yellow
highlights give each photo a spark which is different to any other photographic
images however this is something I was aiming for as I wanted my photography to
stand out and be different. Next time I would do a few things differently
however everything has worked as planned. I am working on advertising this
installation through the word of mouth and also showing different sort of
audiences what I have created and how it works.
Final Photography
This
photograph shows an underage teenager holding his bag in a park while looking
ahead. Nothing suspicious is within the photo. However, due to him holding the
bag, if makes you wonder ‘why is the bag bright?’ then the audience might think
‘what is in the bag?’ the augmented reality will show a short video clip of the
teenager taking alcohol out of the bag and drinking it in this public area
which is illegal. Many people in reality think that its okay to bring your own
alcoholic drinks to the park however it is still a pubic area and it is not
allowed. In addition to that, this teenager is under the age of 18 meaning he shouldn’t
be drinking.
This
photograph shows actor number 2 sitting in the park on the bench while holding
his phone. I have highlighted the phone so that the audience think ‘why is the
phone highlighted? What is going to happen to the phone?’ the augmented reality
will show actor number 2 walking past casually and suddenly taking this phone
and running away with it. This is in another word theft.
In
this photograph, actor number 1 is smoking a cigarrete. Many cigarettes are
highlighted on this photo. This makes users think ‘it must be something to do
with smoking as there are many cigarettes on the ground’. The augmented reality
will show the UNDERAGE teenager smoking which is illegal, but also throwing it
on the ground.
In this photograph, it is a little
trickier to give a clue to what will happen next. This is why I only created a
thinking bubble over actor number 1. Perhaps looking at the environment will
get you thinking where he is and what he is thinking about. The augmented
reality will be of him running towards a car and breaking into it.
In
this photographs, actor number 1 is sitting on a concrete wall near an entrance
to specific house numbers as you can see from the sign. The door is highlighted
in order to make users think ‘is somebody going to open the door? Is he going
to break in or do something with the door?’ The augmented reality will be of
the actor running towards the doors, knocking and running away which is other
words is called ‘knock and run’ this is disturbance.
